
Strengthening Global-Local Collaboration for India’s Dairy Progress
Genus Breeding India Private Limited (ABS India) had the honour of hosting Jim Low, Chief Operating Officer, ABS Global, along with Greg Herman, Global Finance Director, and Patricia Coli, International HR Senior Manager in the month of April. This leadership visit along with India’s Leadership Team Dr. Dinesh Singh Rawat, General Manager, Dr. rahul gupta, Regional Operations Manager and Shilpa J., Head Human Resource reaffirmed Genus’s deep-rooted commitment to the Indian dairy ecosystem—showcasing how global expertise and local partnerships can accelerate sustainable genetic progress.
During his visit, Jim Low praised ABS India’s role in improving dairy genetics and acknowledged the Government’s efforts under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission to boost country’s milk production.
A highlight of the visit was Mr. Low’s recognition of Indian farmers achieving 82.7 liters of milk per cow daily, showcasing the impact of focused breeding. He urged the ABS team to work with progressive farmers to reach ambitious milestone of achieving a century (100 Liters per day) within three years.
A key highlight of the trip was the visit to Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, where discussions were held for a strategic partnership. The collaboration will focus on joint research in dairy genetics, student engagement via access to ABS India’s state-of-the-art laboratories, and educational outreach to veterinarians and farmers.
Global Leadership Team met with the Progressive Dairy Farmers Association (PDFA) to discuss industry challenges and opportunities. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Daljeet Singh, President of PDFA, and to progressive farmers Harpreet Singh and Ekbal Singh, whose award-winning practices represent the future of Indian dairying.
The leadership team visited Genus ABS’s labs in Mehsana and Ode (under Amul), recognizing Deepesh Kumar, Darshan Thakor, and Sapna Prajapati for their contributions. They also met with Mehsana and Amul Dairy management, gaining insight into the impact of genetic technologies.
In Sangli, Maharashtra, they were warmly welcomed with Maharashtrian phetas, visited the Genus ABS Brahma Lab, and concluded with a tree plantation drive. They also met the Chitale family, Genus’s valued JV partners.
The tour concluded at the Pune Corporate Office, where the leadership engaged with ABS India’s management and conducted a virtual town hall to connect with employees nationwide, sharing Genus’s global vision and future roadmap.
The visit highlighted Genus’s unified approach of combining global leadership, local partnerships, and innovation to support Indian dairy farmers. Genus remains committed to advancing genetic excellence and sustainability in livestock.
