Gir and kankarej breeds are more in demand. According to the guidelines of the government of India, The criteria regarding milk production, genetic disorder and disease of different breeds have been determined.
In Gujarat, 24,800 cows were sexed semen for the purpose of producing good breeds in cows. Out of which 22,642 means 91.30 percent cows gave birth to female calf while only 8.70 percent male calf were born. Both female(X) and male(Y)chromosome are released from the semen of bulls at Gir and kankarej breeds are more in demand. According to the guidelines of the government of India, Thecriteria regarding milk production, genetic disorder and disease of different breeds have been determined. According to the guidelines, Bulls are selected. Specially in Gujarat, Gir and Kankarej breed are consider as a good. So, the demand of this breed of cows is higher Gujarat bovine semen sexing institute which located in Patan. Later the female chromosome (X) are inseminated in cows embryo for fertilization.
In this experiment, maximum cows gave birth to female calf at approximately 279 to 292 days after conception. Due to the scheme started under ”Rastriya Gokul Mission “. Within 10 years the number of good breed in cows will be increased and also milk production can increased in the state.
An officer of the State Animal Husbandry department said that Sexed and Conventional semen are available in Animal
husbandry hospital and First Aid Centers.
