Gujarat Bovine Semen Sexing Institute, Patan is a third-party site of Genus ABS India; in collaboration with Gujarat Livestock Development Board, Gujarat State Government undertaking, deployed under Gokul Rashtriya Mission. Deployment of the laboratory started on 15 February 2021 and the first dispatch of Sexcel was done in June 2021. Sexcel (sexed semen) of Holstein Friesian, Gir, Kankrej, crossbred (CBHF) and buffalo breeds such as Mehsana and Jaffarabadi have been produced and provided to GLDB. The facility adopts its International standards for selection of bulls for semen production with regards to genetics and health standards. Distribution of Frozen Sexcel straws by GLDB started in 2021-22. Data have been compiled till February 2023 for the distribution to 59 centres of Gujarat state. 24,604 calves have been born out of 75,565 straws distributed; with 22.56% conception rate and female to male ratio of 92.12 to 7.88. Genus ABS India initiated its first third party sexed semen laboratory with Mehsana District Milk Union at Mehsana, Gujarat in late 2018. The laboratory produces world class sexed genetics with state-of-the-art procedures powered by Genus IntelliGen Technologies. These procedures are IP protected and helps the laboratory archive high quality standards. Laboratory at Mehsana is first in the world to commercially produce sexed semen of Jaffarabadi breed of buffalo. Along with Jaffarabadi buffalo breed, this laboratory is also producing a very high-quality semen of cattle breeds like Holstein, Jersey, Gir, Kankrej, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, Crossbreds along with Buffalo breeds like Murrah and Mehsana. This pristine laboratory is running by high performing team consists of subject matter experts and highly experienced members. Mehsana laboratory has adopted to the international standards of quality parameters for production of sexed semen.

In the realm of agricultural and livestock advancements, Genus ABS India has emerged as a key player, pushing the boundaries of reproductive technologies. The state-of-the-art laboratory, BRAHMA was established near Bhilawadi, Dist. Sangli, Maharashtra in 2016. With extensive research and development Programme of Genus, a unique 21 st century cutting-edge advanced technology was developed for sexing of bovine semen. In 2017, Genus ABS India deployed Genus IntelliGen Technology in Brahma and started first bovine semen sexing in the country. With this technology, Brahma is providing sexed genetics under product name SEXCEL for breeds like Holstein, Jersey, Sahiwal, Red Sindhi, Gir, Hariana along with crossbreds and Murrah buffalo breed for the first time. Brahma also produces quality semen from live imported Holstein & Jersey bulls from USA. These live imported bulls are genomically evaluated and produced from robust ET bull production programme of ABS Global.

Brahma produces this quality Sexcel in very sustainable manner and always participates in reducing the carbon footprint as much as possible and promotes green energy. Solar panels are installed on entire rooftop of facility to conserve green energy. The facility boasts the Genus IntelliGen technology, advanced equipment’s, and team of skilled technicians and scientists who are dedicated to achieve high accuracy and quality in semen sexing. As compared to traditional technology of sexing semen, this technology does not subject cells high pressures, electric currents and shear forces. Sexcel helps dairy farmers with more good quality heifers, higher profits, and therefore, a better and improved way of life for farmers. The progenies produced from Sexcel are standing tall and performing outstandingly at many Indian dairy farms; contributing to farm profitability, increased investment potential, and economy of Indian dairy farms. The Bovine Semen Sexing Laboratory of Babugarh is a facility, that specializes in sexing cattle and buffalo using the Genus IntelliGen 21 st century cutting-edge technology. The laboratory completed its validation process for sexing in October 2019 and began commercial production of Sexcel. The Babugarh Laboratory is capable of sexing a variety of breeds, including Holstein, Jersey,Sahiwal, Gir, Gangatiri, Tharparkar, and crossbred. The laboratory is aligned with the vision of Genus ABS India of profiting dairy farms through genetic improvement of dairy cattle.

This year, we collaborated the Genus IntelliGen Technology with AMUL, marking their third semen sexing facility in Gujarat and 5 th in the country. With this addition, we offer sexed genetics for different bovine breeds such as Holstein, Jersey, Sahiwal, Gir, and crossbreeds, as well as buffalo breeds such as Murrah and Jafarabadi.
